How low is the lake in Udaipur?

I recently inquired about a lake view hotel room in Udaipur only to receive an email back letting me know that the lake is "dried".

How low is the lake?

Well in February it was fine (see image) so unless something drastic has happened I think they're confused.

the water is low until part of the lakebed show up.. you can actually walk to the hotel (on a tiny strip of soil showing up)

It's about the same if not lower now.. we walked across to the lake palace easily (about 1-2 weeks ago) and people have their cattle grazing on the bottom of the lake etc.

A puddle isn't an exageration. We were in Udaipur for Xmas and there is only a small bit of water outside the lake palace hotel. There is just enough to reflect the view of the hotel when the lights are on at night and for boats to run across. But, everywhere else there are cattle grazing and kids playing cricket. You can walk right up to the hotel from 3 sides I think.

All the replies are quite depressing.. Does it get any better immediately after the monsoons.. perhaps around September - October, maybe a good time after a good monsoon year ?
