How long to stay in Jodhpur?
HI,
I'm currently planning to go to Jodhpur for 1 day. Arrive at 5:15 from Jaisalmer in the morning and take the flight to Udaipur at 19:00 at night. Is this enough time? Thanx! Mike |

I had 2 and a half days in Jodhpur and could have happily spent more time there, losing yourself in the winding streets is great fun.

Jodhpur is not my favourite town in India, but at least as Steven said you should spend there one or two days more. A part the fort and other spots in town, very near you have the ancient capital Mandore and 60 kms from there Ossiyan (really interesting temples), you can also spend and afternoon visiting some bishnoi villages not far from Jodhpur. The real thing is how much time you have?.

Here's my itinerary
I'm travelling to India at the end of the year for a medical elective and plan to travel for 2 weeks at the end from 28/01/05 to 10/02/05. I'm wondering whether anyone could give me some suggestions for the following itinerary.
28/01/05 Get from Raxual to Varanasi 29/01/05 Train from Varanasi to Agra. Overnight from 1815 to 0640 the next morning 30/01/05 Stay in Agra 31/01/05 Drive in the morning from Agra to Jaipur, stay o/n at Jaipur 01/02/05 Train from Jaipur to Jaisalmer. Overnight from 2355 to 1200 the next day, then 2 nights in Jaisalmer 04/02/05 Train from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur. Overnight from 2355 to 0515 05/02/05 Stay in Jodhpur 06/02/05 Morning drive from Jodhpur to Udaipur 07/02/05 Stay in Udaipur 08/02/05 Plane from Udaipur to Delhi depart 1335, arrive 1505 09/02/05 Stay Delhi 10/02/05 Plane from Delhi to Singapore departs 2045 If there's any good accomodation you can recommend (around or less than 2100/night for 3 person), would love to hear that from you too! Thanks guys! Mike |

Mike, I'd only spend 1 day in Jodhpur - sure there are sites other than just the obvious (fort etc) but more time there would mean less in other (in my opinion - more beautiful) places. Personally I'd fly from Udaipur to Delhi on the day I leave - looks like you have plenty of time to get from the domestic to internation terminal. Of course there is a risk if the flight is delayed - that would be a good excuse to extend your trip! Don't miss Fatepur Sikri.
Cheers Fatroony |

I spent 5 days in jodhpur, and didn't get bored. i did adore jodhpur, with it's vibrant blue walls and impressive fort, but the main reason to stay so long was yogi's guesthouse. it's in a 500 year old haveli, and had plenty of areas just to curl up with a book or a game of cards for the afternoon (the balconies and other covered outside areas have mattresses covering the floor, for excellent shlomping opportunities). we'd been really busy up until that point, and india doesn't offer all that many places to relax.
highly recommended. we made some good friends there too. |

Yogi blue house!!!!
i still remember a sunset on the fort, sitting at the top of yogi's. Monzoon clouds and the sunlight going throught them. Blue Jodhpur, orange fort, rainbow surrounding it and... yep lots of kites in the sky, it was independence day 2001!!! One of the best sunset i've ever seen in India! |

Cool! Thanks guys...
and one more question, just wondering how long it takes to get from Agra to Jaipur via Fatepur Sikri, and how long it takes to get to Udaipur from Jodhpur? Thanks again! Mike |
