I've never been there in the monsoon either, but last year there was enough water to fill Lake Pichola in Udaipur, before the monsoon cows were grazing and cricket was being played on the dry lake bed.
After the monsoon it looked like this. Thats a hell of a lot of water,,,,,,,,,,,, |

I was in Rajasthan this July when it was all just starting. I`d say it was ok. The hardest were the bus rides (especially when long&exhausting). I remember the way from Pushkar to Bundi, we were sitting in the bus driver`s area and because of rain couldn`t see more than 15 metres of the road ahead of us (going 50 mph). It was a piece of cake for the driver.
The beginning of the journey to Rajasthan was also funny. We were on a train from Delhi to Jaipur and somewhere on the Haryana-Rajasthan border the train stopped. After one hour waiting we got the info that that`s it for today. The rails were flooded and we couldn`t go further. Everybody went to get their money back and the queue was just enormous with all that survival of the fittest Indian queue thing. We made friends with a Belgian-Italian couple, two Spanish and one Brazilian and all of us decided to get a jeep to Jaipur. It was the jeep owner`s lucky day cos he got 5000 repees (25r per kilometre) to get us there. Although crammed like sardines we had a great time in the jeep and all landed at Evergreen hotel. So be prepared to some travel inconveniences and go for it! |

This year in Udaipur in September it started by raining, then getting cloudy days and finally at the end of September sunny days. Not too bad.
