Hiring driver in Mt. Abu for Udaipur trip

Some helpful advice in other threads has led me to confirm that I would like to travel from Mt. Abu to Udaipur by car, with stops in Kumbalgarh and Ranakpur. Based on what I've heard I think it can be done in one day, but am open to input on that point as well.

My main question is how I would hire a driver in Mt. Abu? Is there a tourist office I can go to, or a tour company that I could make arrangements with in advance? Finally if anyone has a guess as to the cost of this trip that would help as well.

Thanks!

Usually you can get a contact at hotels. Travel agents are readily available in Abu as well. I did a similar trip in one day but it was a long day and involved night driving (risk)..

better to stay at Ranakpur for a night?

Thanks for the response, and the advice. I've heard and read in multiple places that the drive to Udaipur is best done during the day only. Seems like to do that while also seeing Kumbalgarh and Ranakpur it might be best to try and stay over a night.

Is there anyone who's done this, and might have a sense of what it would cost to hire a driver for this two-day trip?

Thanks!

Driver will charge you depends on kilometers covered and number of nights. For eg. Driver will charge you Rs 7/KM(Min 200kms/day) & Rs200 extra for overnight stay. So it shouldnt cost you more than Rs3200 ($80 approx) for two days.

If you are going in cooler months and don't need air conditioning then you may get a slightly cheaper rate i.e. 5-6 rupees per km. depending on size of vehicle. I stayed at Ranakpur last Feb - it was very nice and peaceful. I think to do all you want in one day may be a little tiring. It's doable but an early start will be necessary. You will probably want to spend some time at each place (Ranakpur and Khumbalgarh) and they could take up the best part of a full day. More relaxing to break this up into two days, I think.
