Hiring a driver+car, rajasthan. Itinerary?

In my case the price went UP!! I asked for a quote for 9 days ... he gave me the price of 280 ... for 14 days. I clarified that I only needed 9 days and the price went UP to 300. I questioned whether he'd gotten me confused with someone else and pasted his original e-mail text ... and the price went UP to 380. In all honesty, I think he was just confusing me with other e-mail inquiries he was fielding. But that's okay. I'm still looking and know that I can find someone after we arrive, if necessary.

You can easily find someone on arrival. Get your hotel to suggest, go to a nearby travel agent or other hotel, get another quote and then compare. Check your kilometres for journey (make sure you have a map!)then see what average per kilometre works out at - if it's a round trip do total kiloms. if one way double the kiloms. because you have to pay for return.

Hello Karuna or anyone else who can help me......
I am really angry right now! and very worried! I thought I had my car all booked with Bobby Thakur- everything seemed to be running smoothly and he was replying to my emails within hours of me writing them. But today he wrote me an email to tell me that we were too late and that we could no longer book the car. He had quoted 550 euros for 14days with the toyota qualis. There are four of us with packs so we need something big enough to fit us plus luggage.
I am leaving this Tuesday for Nepal- then going to India after. I really hoped to have the driver organised before then. I don't know what to do now.
Is there any possibility that the driver you (karuna) were willing to organise for me last week, would still be available?
ahh, don't know what to do! last minute panics.

Read my previous post, Maddie. There is no need to be upset - don't even worry if you can't book a driver. When you arrive in Delhi, take a taxi to where you are all staying, and do as I have suggested. Most cars and taxis are often booked on the day before or even on the day of departure here. Work out how much in rupees you were going to pay in euros, then use that as a benchmark. A large vehicle is approx. 7 rupees per kilometre.

Hello, I have got onto Sanjay kumar..(the driver). Not sure if that was by luck that he emailed when I needed him or if someone helped here?? Thankyou if you have...but he is quite slow replying to emails so was just wondering whether anyone has his phone number? cheers

Another question-this time itinerary related....
We only have 14 days as I hae said before so don't have a lot of time. I think that it may be too much driving if we try to get to both jaisalmer and udaipur- thought realistically we can probably only get to one of these places. Unfortunately they are 2 of the main places i want to go to. Anyway, which one would you suggest if you had a choice?
