Elephants, Amber Fort

Elephants around the Amber Fort.
For all those who love elephants you should get a kick out of viewing this webpage. I still have more work to do on it like adding sound, video clips, more info along with some elephant smell too. Ok, I haven’t figured out how to add smell but with these VR Photos it’s almost like being there! Enjoy

They seem to be. We did not ride an elephant to the fort (it's an easy stair climb for humans anyway - the elephant route is slightly longer), but our driver suggested we might like to visit one of the elephant houses. They appeared to be well fed and looked after. The highlight was a 3 month old baby to oggle at.

Here is the baby suckling (mum was tucking into a some maize):

I think it's Cameleer himself who indicated at some point all is not always well with them J.

His history is a little extensive to look it up for you though. Might interest you all the same as an animal lover.

There is good and bad almost everywhere when it comes to working with animals, and remember India is still a third world country with a lot of people making their living working with these animals. Here in the States we can spend 3 million dollars fixing up a place for the elephants at the zoo. But remember we are talking about the streets and small towns of India here.

Here is one of the places that they keep elephants:
Kite Festival rooftop view from in Jaipur as thousands of kites are doing battle in the sky!
Looking down you will also see 3 elephants, and a horse below the tarp (most of this person’s elephants are kept in Amber now), a goat wearing a t-shirt (the belief is “if you’re cold the animals cold too”) Over to the right there’s one more elephant and above that is a camel laying down.
Here is the large 360 virtual reality photo showing it all, Flash 9 is needed to view it.
http://www.indiavrtours.com/jaipur/kite.html

I’m going back to India around the end of November and hope to spend some time around the dancing bears (if I can find some) to find out the good and bad of it all.

Here is a small fast loading VR panoramic photo of the elephants resting in the barn below the Amber Fort, you can also open up a very large full screen view of it too.
