Deciding on Jodhpur Hotels

Hi,

Curious if anyone is familiar with any of the following hotels in Jodhpur: Karni Bhawan, Haveli Inn Pal (not Pal Haveli) or Hotel Krishna Prakesh?

We're trying to decide between the three for a late December stay (3 nights) and would love thoughts/opionions on the hotels.

Thanks much,
jamie

There are several "Haveli Guest House"s in Jodhpur, but if you mean the one in the old town opposite the old well, then I really think you could not do better. The view from the front windows is fantastic, and from the roof-top verandah... well, there are just no words. We chose it because of its location... Jodhpur is an easy city to get lost in, but this guest house is so close to the gate of the Old City that we were never lost for more than a few minutes. Our high-and-front room cost us about 450 rupees (two years ago), and we found the hosts welcoming and considerate. And Jodhpur is a wonderful place... there is a lassi bar near the gate with one of the best lassis we had anywhere in India, and a meal from the omelette man (just a few metres away from the lassi bar, also at the main gate) is an experience to remember.... ask him to show you his book of testimonials (ours will probably be among them)from all over the world.

We stayed in Haveli Guesthouse in December 2006 and were very impressed with the management, staff and service. Ask for the blue or orange room! Guman was our waiter and decided on our order for supper every night, while Shyam drove us to Osian for a sunset camel ride. On the way back, he stopped at a wedding ceremony where we were welcomed with open arms. Unforgettable!

Has someone of you stayed in the rooms at lower floors? I was proposed 1000 rs for a room at the lower floor. Can be too noisy?

There is much difference between the superior and stantdard rooms? From the photo in the website, I cannot understand the differences .
Thanks

We stayed there in Feb. 2006 in a 450r room. One of the walls didn't quite come up to the ceiling. It was beside the families rooms, so this didn't concern us too much. The staff were nice, including the crusty older waiter who made us laugh. I know there were nicer rooms as we looked at them but we just stayed overnight and the cheaper room was within our budget at the time.

We stayed at the Haveli Inn Pal in Nov. twice for a total of a week. We loved it. Our guide book mistakenly called it the Haveli Inn Palace. THAT IS NOT THE NAME. Pal is the family name. It is a charming place. We stayed on the top floor in nice big, air conditioned rooms with fabulous, unobstructed views of the Fort. The lower floors are much cheaper but have no views. Price includes breakfast on the rooftop. http://www.haveliinnpal.com/

about 1,650 rupees for the view room for double.

Are you talking about HAveli Guest House that I linked some posts above? From the website it does not seem to have rooms so cheap.

Yes, it is the one that you posted across from the well. I looked at the pictures in the gallery section and it is the same place. Our room was one in the pink and yellow part. When we were there they were doing construction as they had purchased the land next door. They probably upgraded the older rooms that were there.

Saragat, I'm sure that you would enjoy your stay. The hotel is run by a close knit family. Be sure to take an afternoon trip to Osian for a sunset camel safari. It was great and they can organise it from the hotel.

Actually I was trying to understand how far Osian is from Jodhpur. We would probably have to head directly on arrival. Is enough the afternoon to visit temples and camel trip?

Thanks and Cheers
Sara

We've booked at the Haveli Guest House too - but not until January, so will be waiting to hear what you thought!
