Good post, BenV. I have just discovered this and found out the Desert Festival, Jaisalmer will be later in Feb. which means uncomfortably hot in the afternoon next year! (I t is dependent on the Full Moon in Feb.) Noticed a post re no festivals after Feb. 3. i don't think that is true... The funny thing the local Tourist Information Bureau only seems to know the exact date about a month or so ahead of time! But if the date is Feb 19 - 21 2008 by ministry for Tourism, I am sure it is right!
Khamaghani .
The Rajasthan International folk festival (RIFF) will take place at Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur Between the 25th and 29th of October 2007, The Festival is a partnership project between two of Rajasthan's leading heritage foundations- the Mehrangarh Mueseum Trust (MMT) and Jaipur Virasat Foundation (JVF). As well as presenting events at the fort,MMT and JVF will be working with the Goverment of Rajasthan Tourism department to develop the programming and presentation of the Marwar Festifal, the free public festival that takes place annually in Jodhpur at the time of Sharad purnima-the same dates as Jodhpur RIFF.
The Festival is an annual event of International Significance that will serve as a platform for promoting a wide spectrum of traditional performing artist communities from across the state of Rajasthan.

I personally have been to the meeting today to discuss the festival with the organizers and the hosts. I was invited for the Meeting to discuss the festival and to see the presentation by Jaipur Virasat foundation for the festival, the organizers have done very well ,there were all the travel agents and hoteliers from Jodhpur at the meeting at Darbar Hall situated inside Umaid Bhawan Palace today to discuss the Festival this October, the meeting was hosted by Princess Shivranjani and H.H.Maharaja Gaj Singh 2nd of Jodhpur,The Royal family is taking good interest to bring jodhpur much more on tourism platform internationally. Most of the Festival will be celebrated at Mehrangarh Fort.
Price per person for Indians and foreigners.
There will be programs arranged for locals and travellers at Old stadium for free .
25th to 29th of october- Festival pass 2750Rps per person.
There are few more packages for day and night hours.

Reason: Adding Info.
OP:
You should create a Google or iCal/icalendar formated calendar link for the Festival Dates.

Do you mean Holi, lindsejwhite? Welcome to IM btw! Holi is on the 21st March this year - the date changes according to the full moon. Children start throwing colours a few days beforehand though, and 22nd is the day (morning mostly) when big colour throwing is going on. This year it is at the same time as Easter - Good Friday, Easter Saturday.
Every cloud has a silver lining!
Thanks Aishah, yes indeed Holi was what I was wanting to find out about!! That is a shame as we don't arrive into India until late on 22nd March.
We are only in India for 2 weeks, doing the usual Delhi-Agra-Jaipur-Pushkar-Jodphur-Delhi route, but I am trying my hardest to find out about festivals and musical events that will be occuring during our travels over the 2 weeks and in these areas. My boyfriend is very passionate about music, and is very keen to experience the abundance of music in India. Is it common to get street music??
Any info on festivals between 22nd March and April 4th in these areas would be of great help!!
Once again this forum has endevoured to help me in my research!! Without this site my attempt to organise this short trip would of been a lot more difficult!!
Keep up the good work!!
