Camel fair--go a week ahead?
I would love to see the camel fair in Pushkar, but the only day I could go is Oct 23rd, which is a week before the fair officially begins. I've read that trading takes place in advance, but is a week in advance too early to go?

Camel Fair
Its probably a good time to come, there will be rooms available and also you can watch everyone arrive, they start about a week before the Fair

Thanks so much for your advice. My time is limited, and I'm encouraged that I will be able to see something of the fair. I'm not that interested in being in all the crowds. I'm hoping learn a little about the lives of the traders, if they are open to talking to me. And I'd love to see the camels arrive. So the time frame seems ideal.

if you stay at Bharatpur Palace (rm 1), near Ghandi Ghat, the recorded Hanuman chants start up about then and you should have NO trouble waking every morning!
but it is a v. cool place to wake up even so. have fun! |

Most people suggest for an extended stay before or after fair.
Can anyone suggest what will be a better option, we will be driving from delhi. Thanks |
