Jodhpur. It exports a lot of fake antique furniture, you know the armoires which have those old looking doors and tables etc. Around the Umaid Bhawan there is a whole street of furniture shops. But the real action on prices takes place in godowns in the industrial area where these guys have there warehouses and factories. And you cant believe the prices if you are buying bulk. They will quote in dollars, euros anything with freight packing everything organized.

Yes, I agree re Jodhpur. Not just for older pieces either, some excellent new wooden furniture is also available there. A lot of the fake antique pieces are recently made. Modern designs also available.

I didn't know about modern designs being made there. And the quality that I have seen is poor, but then it serves the purpose because it is meant to pass off as a dilapidated antiques anyway. And they normally use solid mango wood which is great for that particular purpose.
