Bus from jaisalmer to jodhpur
Which is the best bus to take from jaisalmer to jodhpur, where can I book this bus? I was thinking about taking the bus at around 6 in the morning. Are the bus ok? One thing that worries me is that someone said that there were many people smoking on the bus? is this correct? Does the bus have any toilet stops on the way?

Khamaghani,
Best bus to take from Jodhpur is the 5.30 silver line bus from the government bus stand, this bus is coming from jaipur and onwards to jaislmer, it is parked outside the government bus stand and the tickets are sold inside the bus, if there is anybody smoking in the bus you can always request them to stop smoking, yes the bus's usualy have 2 toilet stops but on serious cases u can request them to stop for you. second option is the private bus leaving every on hour from the Jaislmer bus stand , it is called the BOMBAY MOTROS. tickets sold on a single counter at the stand. 2 by 2 delux bus they call it. it is not very bad. |

When i travelled that rout i just took pot luck , I also cannot remember the name of ,or times of the buses ,for this desertrose is the post to help . What i can say is that was one of my most memorable bus journeys
The bus was packed ,the babble of humanity around me ,the smell ,the colour all made it a most wonderful day ,have fun P.S i am sure that if i required a toilet stop the bus would have stopped for me . p.p.s Leave the booking of the bus till you get there ,there is always one available ..

If you are looking to plan a tight itinerary you might be out of luck .The better buses out of the main cities may run on a tighter schedule and may be of better quality .It is advisable to sort these things out when you arrive, there are lots and lots of buses which appear to run everywhere all of the time . when you are there you can see the buses and check on timing's .I found that being on a "deluxe" bus ment one of two things it might have a little more room or it was called a "deluxe" when it was made 20/30 years ago .

The silver line govt. bus used to run around 5.15p.m. from Jaisalmer reaching Jodhpur approx. 5 hours later. It is now a sleeper bus but has seats as well. The seats for that journey would be more comfortable for you, I think. It goes onto Jaipur. It can be booked at the government bus stand - book the day before I would suggest.
Private buses are running every hour, and can be booked at agents near Hanuman Circle, Jaisalmer. Check where they depart from because during certain day hours they go from Air Force Circle out on Station Road, not far from the government bus stand, and at other times from Hanuman Circle area. As far as I know none of these buses are a/c.

I would suggest you to take the Jaisalmer Jodhpur Express - rather than a Bus. You will enjoy the train if you travel AC III or higher. It is fast and maintained properly (with reading lights) and very clean wash rooms. Leaves close to mid night and reaches Jodhpur around 5 in the morning.
I agree with the others - there is only one or two AC buses which leaves from hanuman circle area around 5 to 5:30. These buses go to Jaipur. Will take about 5 hours to readh Jodhpur. These buses have push back and sleeper seats. Be sure to check the bus previous day and buy your ticket accordingly to your comfort. Other local buses have no AC. I did not travel in one. So I do not know whether they are comfortable. I am sure if the weather is good - it will not be really un comfortable. But I would still suggest the train. |

Just adding to your post ijustwanttotravel with a few more details - the train to Jodhpur from Jaisalmer departs around 11p.m.
That good government bus leaves from the bus stand behind Neeraj Hotel at the corner of Shiv Road and Station Road. Private buses will leave from either Hanuman Circle or Air Force Circle depending on the time of the day - be sure to check your departure place when you book. |
