I have been to several places in east rajasthan and i would rate bundi as the best among them, not been to pushkar though. It has a very different charm that you wont find anywhere.

I can testify first hand to the above. We were just at Pushkar a couple of weeks ago. Lake was bone dry, and there's some construction going on. Don't know what its like when the lake is full, but I was NOT impressed with Pushkar. More touristy than anywhere else I visited in India. And the stuff being sold is really crappy stuff. And the "spiritualism" of the place seemed manufactured....I just didn't get it. Maybe its different when the lake has water. But Pushkar was by far the least favorite spot my wife and I visited.

Bundi for sure
Just been to both Pushkar and Bundi and Bundi wins hands down.
I arrived in Pushkar prior to the fair and it really is a lovely town, though I'm sure it would be all the more beautiful were there water in the lake. Of course, as the 200,000 tourists, pilgrims and various others descended upon the tiny town it got a little crowded and way more touristy, but it was still a nice place to be. But my vote is still for Bundi. While it is obviously used to tourists, the city still has a small town feel and was more welcoming than any place I've travelled to yet. The fort and palace are beautiful (though I didn't go in the palace, just wandered up to the fort). As you arrive on the highway, the view of the palace over the city is phenomenal, especially in the late afternoon light. I also highly recommend a trip to the big waterfall (about 45 minutes outside of town by motorbike). It is beautiful and there is no one there. Plus you can swim in the pool at the bottom. You could see all of Bundi in a day, but I stayed for four and didn't feel like it was too much at all. |

I think Bundi is 10 times better than Pushkar. Pushkar is nice, but also boaring I wanted to stay 2 days but i left after 1. |
