There's an overnight train, though it's only 5 and a half hours, it departs at 00:50 (careful with date when booking), there's also a few other trains though some don't run daily.

Ajmer-Udaipur trains.

This one goes out to the usual suspects..I need some help..

I have learned this weekend that the Pushkar lake has dried out It's no more. Gone..I'm not to keen on going there to see a dried out put..It's sad..I would like to go from Jaipur ,south into Jhalawar district..from the I can easily head west toward Udaipur..I am having difficulty getting any info on accommodation in Jhalawar..Can anybody help? I believe that Ramganj Mandi is the closest railhead to Jhalawar. Is this correct?

Your help is always appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Yes ! The nearest station is Ramganjmandi at 25 Kms. May get down at Kota Junction (Distance 87 Km) also.

From Kota, may take a bus to Jhalawar.

RTDC has hotel Chandrawati there, there are few other basic places like Hotel Surya (Ph: 07432 231361) and Mukund lodge also...
