Ajmer/Pushkar from Jaipur and back
Hi,
I am running short of time. Is it possible to visit Ajmer and Pushkar in one day from Jaipur? How much time it takes from Jaipur to Ajmer? What are the transport options available? I am thinking of starting from Jaipur in early morning and visit Ajmer and Pushkar and then back to Jaipur by night. Is this possible? Thanks in advance. ![]()

I think you better hire a cab. First go to Pushkar for photo ops and later visit Ajmer.

All overnight buses from Delhi to Ajmer go via Jaipur. These buses reach Jaipur around 5 AM so it should not be a problem.

The over night bus, tickets can be got in Jaipur, not shore where also shouldn't cost much, a sleeper from Dehli is 250rps.
But thinking about it the sleeper bus arrives in Pushkar 9 am ish, thats late for the morning lake pictures and bathers, but then I'm a morning and evening photo kinda girl in India. The local buses run from Jaipur to Ajmer, or some times Pushkar, in 2 1/2 hours so get up early and do it by local bus. will cost you under a 100rps each way, sorry my hubby always buys the tickets so I can't remember the price. Only thing I would say is are you shore you don't want to give them more time, I would say half a day if fine for Pushkar its beautiful but small and the beauty is easy to find, Ajmer is different, its got so many different kinds of things to see an incredibly rich history, wonderful bazaars, also lots of ugly stuff, so it might take a bit longer to find the pictures that shouldn't be missed. Think about it, do you really want to rush your pictures, maybe you'd be better off just sticking to how much you can do well in the time you've got.

For one person finding a seat is no problem plus plenty of local buses.

the holy dargah for us sufi folk is the makkah of the sub cont.A very powerful place to go.
The dargah at taragarh fort and the ruins of the fort itsef on the hill top are interesting even just for the view. The adhai din ka jhonpre masjid is one of the great Indian remains from the 1100's.The moghul pavillions by the lake are postcard style indian romance in one hit,the jain temple is a worth a look, in fact i spent 2 or 3 nights in Ajmer and enjoyed it very ,much and felt i had missed nothing NOT going to Pushkar. If you have not explored Ajmer in detail don't knock it. |
