Advice: Rajasthan for 2 weeks
Advice: Rajasthan for 2 weeks
I am beginnig to work on my itinerary for a 2 week trip to Rajasthan for next month. I have seen many good ideas here. I am looking at a loop, excluding a visit to Agra. I was there 3 years ago.
To start with:
Delhi to Jaipur
Full day in Jaipur
Overnight train to Bikanar
1-2 days in Bikanar
Jaisalmer 3 days with consideration for an overnight camel trek.
To continue,Ranthambhor National Park is important to me as well.
Why all the questions? There are so many possibilities, it's a bit confusing.
Should I consider booking trains well ahead of time? What route woud be worth seeing during the day on a bus or a train?

You could consider Delhi - Bikaner (Lalgarh) - Jaisalmer - Udaipur - Jodhpur - Ranthambore - Jaipur - Delhi.
Jaisalmer - Udaipur by overnight bus.
Udaipur - Jodhpur by car / bus.
Rest all travel by train. While travelling inside Rajasthan you can consider bus if you do not want to book trains well in advance.
Bikaner 1 day
Jaisalmaer 3 days
Udaipur 3 days
Jodhpur 2 days
Ranthambore 2 days
Jaipur 1 day

Thanks. That does look like a good route. I might have to go to Jaipur 1st since there are only few trains per week to Bikinar from Delhi. I gather that it is a good idea to make advance train reservations. I do prefer the train over the bus for this trip in particular
