Will a moderator please put this in the correct thread? Thanx

As my Rajasthan trip is getting closer, I'd like to hear from anyone who would know the actual state of Lake Pushkar.
We consider making the detour and have a lunch + mini visit in Pushkar on our way from Jaipur to Jodhpur.

I know that many travellers perceive the town as full of hippies and greedy priests, but it's just so incredibly pretty that I still would like to see it - IF the lake is not enpty. So, please tell!

Avoid priests , why you need priests, don't take guide and roam yourself , it will be fine

Attaching Oct/NOV-2009 Lake condition .... Looks like lake leaked :-)

Looks like some issue with site , hence not able to attach pictures

Hi The lake is completely dry , just a small pond existing. There are artificial water tanks for people to take a dip.... but on the whole there is nothing left.
Other than the lake there is a stretch of street which has shops on either side. There is however the temple of SAvitri which is on a hilltop. Once you reach there the view from the top is very good. Once can spend almost the entire day there...

The lake is not worth visiting right now as a massive cleanup project is going on in the lake.

Thanx for answers. I gather there is zero chance of the lake filling up during winter, so Pushkar's out. Will probably just have lunch on the go and try and reach Jodhpur as early as possible, then
