| I would like to travel to Abu Road from Udaipur. I believe there are no trains. Any suggestions about buses or taxis, distance involved, cost and time taken to get there. Any help or suggestion will be appreciated Last edited by machadinha; Dec 13th, 2007 at 19:39.. Reason: moved to create own thread |

| Took the bus up, long trip. Next time I'll get a car or taxi. Took a jeep down to the station and that was too fast.. |

| For trains Udaipur - Abu Road, try http://www.indiagroove.com/ (use its multi train routes option; allow for some hours layover time). Best to check results with the official site just to be sure, at http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/. Looks like you have to go over Ahmedabad, quite a detour. 16-21 Hours, barring any delays. If you check here http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/maps/all_india.htm (#10 is what you're looking for) I reckon by road it'd be far easier. My old Lonely Planet says it's a seven-hour busride, and it advises to use Mt. Abu itself as your connection point, from/to where there should be plenty of buses. Note again: this is outdated information. 40 Rs. for a state bus at the time, but what it is today is anyone's guess. If so, I reckon something like 150 (1.9 Pounds) for a bus should be more than ample. Cabs I don't know about. For buses, you can try also Online bus ticket reservation sites , but note it is far from conclusive, as bus companies' online presence just isn't up to standards so far, and there are many.

| Hey Dabs, Udaipur to Mount Abu from Udaipur is just 170kms away. Its better that you travel by the State Transport bus or a Taxi. Please try to cover this distance in the daytime and try to reach Abu atleast before 5pm. As Pindwara patch of the road is considered to be dangerous to travel in the night due to tribal people trouble. Regards, Yogesh
