3300 rs for taxi from Jodhpur to Udaipur is this the right rate?

We've been quoted 2600rs for an a/c Tata Indigo or 3300rs for a Tata Indica
Reading other threads I believe the Indigo is small so we'll go with the Indica. Can anyone tell me if this is a good rate or should we wait until we get to Jodhpur and book a taxi through our hotel (Ratan Vilas) there?

Usually taxi charges are for Garage to garage basis i.e. you pay for return as well. These are definitely not G-G prices as distance is almost 300 Kms. I think, as Nayan says, you should recheck the prices.

Yeah, Nayan you're right I did mix them up, the Indica is 2600 and the Indigo is 3300
Is this a normal rate?

I'd be very happy to pay those rates, it is a long distance, and of course that includes the cost of the taxi's return journey.

I wonder whether perhaps they are expecting to be able to match it with another customer for the return journey, to reduce the costs?

Well I googled "Taxi from Jodhpur to Udaipur" and sent emails to all the results that came up I've gotten various rates from 8100rs downwards to this 3300rs. which I've accepted. The name is Taxi 24 and the email address is indiataxi@yahoo.com They seem to be part of a tour office because the address is Rajwadi-Rajasthan Tours, they're based in Udaipur. Today after I'd emailed them to accept their offer they've sent me a mail asking for all my details; pick up date, time, mobile number etc. I was waiting to see if they would ask for a pre-payment because I have no intention of paying anything until I get to Udaipur but so far they haven't mentioned this, but they may do when they confirm the booking. I'll keep you posted about what happens.

If you want to wait and book when you're in Udaipur the address is: 585, Indra Nagar, City Railway Station Rd, Udaipur.

They've said that they'll send me the Driver's name, Mobile No and car No the day before the pickup, with payment on arrival in Udaipur. We will be back on the 31st of October so if anyone is going after that period I will post back here again when we get back to let you know if we had any difficulties.
