16 days route to Rajasthan, Agra and Delhi
We are three spanish friends in our thirties, two female one male and we are trying to decide our sixteen days route around some places in Rajasthan, Delhi and Agra.
We know this is not time enough to see a lot, especially because we would like to travel a little on our own and go to some places off the beaten track.
Please we would like to know your opinions and advices about our route in order to improve our options or even to change our plans.
10/29: We arrive in Delhi at 02:00 AM, so we'll try to see part of the city.
10/30: More Delhi and by train to Agra in the afternoon or evening.
10/31: We'll spend all day in Agra visiting the main places and get a night train to Sawai Madhopur.
11/01: Visit Ranthambore park and fort and if possible get an evening train to Kota to sleep there.
11/02: We'll see Kota, Bundi and places around, night in Kota.
11/03: Car trip to the South, Jhalawar and around, night in Kota.
11/04: Early train to Chittaurgarh, visit to the fort and AC seated train in the evening to Udaipur.
11/05: Udaipur.
11/06: Car trip to Ranakpur and Rambalgarth, night in Udaipur.
11/07: To Jodhpur by car stopping in Dilwara to see the temples.
11/08: Jodhpur.
11/09: Car trip to Osian in the morning and evening train to Jaipur in the afternoon or evening.
11/10: Jaipur.
11/11: More Jaipur in the morning. Car or Bus to Nawalgarth in the afternoon.
11/12: Car trip to some Shekhawati villages, night in Nawalgarth.
11/13: Car trip to Delhi stopping in some havelis in the morning.
11/14: Our flight departs at 4:00 AM from Delhi.
Maybe we want to see too many places for the time, but the thing is we've already leave out Pushkar or the desert, and now we don't really know what to leave behind if necessary, so we need help from people with more experience.
One of the things I was thinking about was if it was better to do the route this way or the other way round.
This is not the first time we make this kind of travel but it's our first in India.
Please, help us!![/FONT]

so you are going from Udaipur to Ranakpur and Rambalgarth and back in a day and then going to Jodphur a day later? Wouldn't it be better to visit Ranakpur on the way to Jodphur?
And if you took a car between Jodphur and Jaipur (and not train)couldn't you see Dilwara on the way?

Sounds like a car for 16 days might suit you given the relatively short trips between many of your places. You get to see some out of the way places that you'd never see going by train.I've never been to Kota but not many people mention it - not that that is a bad thing - so I wonder what beauty lies there.
I'd definately stay overnight in Ranthambhore so you can do both an evening and a morning safari.

I could sleep in Rantambhore and go to Kota next morning. In this area, according to what I've read I will use a car, and there are some really ancient jainist temples south from Kota. That and te facta that it's a little off the beaten track are my interests.
Dilwara is in Mount Abu, so I think the route is more or less correct. My point is that maybe we're trying to see too much places or maybe there're some of the cities that don't deserve the visit or if you think it would be better to go some other places instead.
Thank you for the comments!!

ok not Dilwara near Ajmer.... still I'd hire a car for 16 days. I am wondering if people round here get sick of me suggesting it, but it is the best way to go. Not cheapest, but still it ain't going to break the bank of the majority of westerners in India. Trains are an experiance for sure - but you see so much more by car.
I may consider to go by car. In fact if I don't pre book some of the train tickets maybe I can't use this option but:
1.- I think train is better when travelling by night, and I will save time this way.
2.- I would rather prefer to hire different cars and drivers. One for each area than may know more around the place. And that?ll be a little work for more people.
But in the end, what I would really like to now is if you think my route is do-able or if it's just crazy and I need to reconsider it.

[11/02: We'll see Kota, Bundi and places around, night in Kota.
Bundi has more good option/Atmoshphere for staying rather than industrial town Kota.
