Manali to amirstar
Manali to amirstar
I am planing to visit manali at april end. From there we are planing to goto amirstar, so now i want to know the direct bus service from manali to amirstar
Take direct bus for Amritsar. If you are alone, a female, traveling by taxi is not safe either besides being costly.
Hi!My name is Amanda, me and my boyfriend are coming to India for 3weeks in August going to Leh, we were planning to stay there for about 10 days and then moving to Manali and from Manali to Amristar: could tell me for sure if there is a bus going straight from Manali to Amristar and how long does it take?

Perhaps someone has actually taken this trip and knows for certain, but I looked in the newest Lonely Planet guide and saw nothing in either the Manali or Amritsar sections about direct buses between the two.
I too doubt the existence of a direct bus between the two. One can go via Mandi-Una-Jalandhar to Amritsar. If one has the time, halts at Mandi and Rewalsar on the way are recommended.
Whoever said money can't buy happiness didn't know where to shop !
Hi
Hi,
There is a direct bus from Manali to Jullundhur, starts early morning, an eight-nine hour drive ... from Jullundhur there are buses by the minute to Amritsar ... Or one could go to Mandi or Kiratpur and take a direct bus from there ...
Cheers,
Dhananjay

Hello Amanda,we were in Amritsar 3 weeks ago, can't help you with the bus route,we went from Jalandhar. It was 47 degrees the day we went but I would not have missed it for all the tea in India. The Golden Temple is indescribable and the friendliness of the Sikh people something to behold.Don't miss the art gallery in the upstairs surrounds, the torture methods in several of the paintings certainly will put you off your food. The Wagah Border closing ceremony is also worth going to,have a great time, wish I were there right now,I love the Sikhs!!!!!!!!!!!!!kindest cheers,Carol Wilson.
manali to amristar
it seems you all don't really agree, anyway i'm gonna check where the intemediate stops are to see what are the possibilities...thanks a lot
and if you discover something more pls let me know!next question is even more complicated...something which goes from Amristar to Bikaner?
oops probably this is not the right section...please forgive me!!
anyway if you know which is the best way, even with changes of means of transport...
I just checked the Himachal Road Transport Corporation website www.hrtc.nic.in and it does show a direct bus from Manali( dep. 15=30) to Amritsar(arr. 08=00 next day), via Mandi, Una and Jalandhar. The fare is Rs. 258/-.
THANKS A LOT SHIMLA!pretty long
but finally there is a bus!
maybe there's a similar net site for buses going to Bikaner??of course in that of himachal there is no bikaner listed and i do ignore if there is another transportation site for that area...i saw that there is a national highway going from amristar to bikaner (route Pathankot-Amritsar-Bathinda-Ganganagar-Bikaner-Jaisalmer-Barmer-Samakhiali (near Kandla)) so maybe there is hope..
atch have i to move to another thread?

We went from Amritsar to Bikinar in 2001.We got a bus to a town south of Amritsar but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the place. It was only a relatively short bus ride, between 1-2 hours. From there we got the train to Bikaner, overnight sleeper that got into Bikinar very early ,about 4 or 5 in the morning.Sorry I can't remember the place where we caught the bus to from Amritsar.Maybe someone else knows?

Jalandhar is 1.5 to 2 hours away on a bus from Amritsar and it has a train station. I am sure you can get buses from Jalandhar to Bikaner. There also used to be a daily train to Bikaner from Jalandhar City railway station. Might be worth checking on http://www.trainenquiry.com
