hill station
Hi, Is there any hill station nearby amritsar where i can see part of the himalayas or so and come back within a day or 2 to punjab.. traveling from amritsar... thanks.. i am open to any other recomendation also.. let me know if i can go from anypart of punjab to any hillstation .. wanting to see the himalayas....
Better think about Macleod Ganj,Naddi area which are closer.
Go to Dalhousie. Get the train to Pathankot and the bus from there. Recommend hotel craggs which is on the road past the tibetan paintings. Amazing views and great food. Chamba and Khijjar can be done on day trips.
Only problem we had was pronouncing the place. My geordi boyfriend insisted on calling is Dal-house-ee while the locals, bus conductors etc pronouced it anything from Dal-hoh-zee to Dal-oo-gie.
You can also get the bus from Pathankot to Dharamsala/ Mcleod Ganj and spend a day trekking up to Triund if you really want to get into the mountains. Dalhousie is quieter and less touristy but Triund is supposed to be amazing (if you manage to get a day thats not cloudy like we did) If you go say hi to the guy who runs the Chai stand. He has a drain pipe digeridoo and plays a lot of Bob Marley (on a stereo not on the dige). Its a nice place to sit for a few hours and wait for the clouds to clear.
