The Hotel CJ International in Amritsar ?
Has anyone stayed at the Hotel CJ International in Amritsar? Do you have other recommendations? We're looking for clean, centrally-located with hot water. Our friends would like the option of in-room bath and AC. We'll be in India next week!
(is AC necessary in Amritsar in October?) |

CJ Int Hotel, Amritsar
Stayed there middle of August. Nice hotel and lovely room - room only just completed the week before. Air/Con with private bathroom with bath, hot water etc. Very clean room.
Restaurant facilities at the hotel not that good but breakfast in room good and we ate out the rest of the time. Room balcony had view of the Golden Temple (very short walk to the temple) and I would recommend as a place to stay. Also hotel arranged car and driver for trip to Wagga border. Just to add they are renovating the hotel but we didn't find it noisy or really bothersome - would stay there again.

Probably I'll stay for a couple of days in Amritsar next December and I'll appreciate to know the price of the hotel, direction, email, phone etc.
Thanks Jorge |

There is also a decent place similar to CJ by the park behind the guest house. I forget the name, but I stayed there in May. Go to the Niwas, or guesthouse, then go up one street away from the temple, and you'll see a park. Walk alongside the park and you'll see the hotel. If I can find their card I'll post the name and info, as well as a review in the hotel section.

We've stayed at CJ International. The location is great. There's internet access in a room off the lobby. Set the price before you begin. Amritsar can be suprisingly hot in October, but it cools off at night so probably AC is not a necessity but iin India usually AC rooms are better rooms overall regardless of the air temerature of the room!

The answers regarding the Hotel C J International in Amritsar are very useful as I am thinking of staying there,I have e-mailed a lot of hotels in North India whilst planning my latest visit, and this is one of the few who have bothered to reply, so that gets it plus points.
I was worried about noise, has this been a problem for anyone. Last edited by Tony 39 : Oct 18th, 2006 at 20:13. |

We just came off a two-night stay at C J International. All I can say is, it seems to have gone downhill a bit since the previous messages in this thread. It's probably the worst place I have ever stayed (with the exception of a place in Paso Robles that I have almost repressed and can only really remember now with the aid of hypnotherappy). I'm trying to think of anything good to say about it. Good location, I suppose. Otherwise, only go to this place if you're really keen on bed linen stained with bloood and semen (still damp - lovely) and covered in other people's pubic hair and if you want staff who take every opportunity to try to rip you off. If we'd had a bit longer in Amritsar, we'd have been straight out of there first thing, before our backpacks hit the ground. Try to stay elsewhere!
That said, other people have evidently had a better time there, so you may want to trust them instead. Jason Quote:

I've been last December 2006 three nights at CJ International in Amritsar and cannot understand the last opinion of johngradycole. I've been in hundreds of hotels all over India and CJ Int., the room was quite good and the bathroom better than the average for the same price in a big town. In the Hotel Listing I've sent full details of the hotel. The only thing was that they were making some repairs on the ground floor (reception and restaurant) but not about the room.
The only problem is may be the price, a little high for me but haven't tried other hotels in Amritsar. Jorge |

Well, quite possibly we had an unrepresentative experience. I'm ppleased other people have had a good time there. I'm just calling em like I see em. I've rarely stayed in a place that I disliked so much, but I'm willing to guess that we happened to go on a bad night and there happened to have been a horrible accident on the bed that afternooon!
