Question safety in punjab

Hey,
We are interested in seeing parts of punjab such as amritsar and the north, and were wondering if anyone has been there recently. Could someone let us know if it is safe for western tourists these days, we are finding it difficult to find reliable information about this.
Thanks!

Punjab

Perfectly safe ... I am unaware of any issues except further north in Jammu and Kashmir

I've found the region to be both friendly and safe.

Punjab and Jammu and Ladakh are all absolutely safe, like any other place in India.

In my experience at least, it was about the only place where prices WEREN'T constantly upped for a white face... I remember giving a tip to a guy who repaired my shoe and he wouldn't take it!! Even my rickshaw driver charged me local fares.

Punjab is famous for size, They live a large life..

Large Paranthas, Large Glasses of Lassi, Large Men, Large Whiskey Pegs, and the list goes on...

But special mention to the Largest of them all....their heart...

Most of them are innocent people, if you ask them a good place to eat, they will offer their kitchen, if you ask for a hotel, they offer their own bed...

Its one of its kind land in the World..just go there and enjoy it..

they are very passionate about their Food, so make sure you enjoy it as much as you can...

Punjab

Sikhs tend to be wonderful people, upright and noble.

Gujurat is another good place - not so many backpackers to mess up the travel economy.
