Perfect Punjab

I guess if you are reading this post it's because you are looking into exploring India's friendliest state,home of the lovely Sikh people[maybe I am a little biased.]Our main reason for travelling in Punjab was to visit our new friends[in Jalandhar] we had met in Dec in Pushkar.Also we are farmers in Australia so were interested to see Indian farming.Well what a wonderful,wonderful time we had.Apart from it being the totally wrong season to visit,it was sooooooooo very hot.We took the Shathabi express from Delhi to Chandigarh only 3 and a half hours.Spent 1 night at hotel Corporate Inn,great spot,visited the most magnificent Rock Garden,this is a must and might rank as one of India's treasures in years to come.Next day to Jalandhar where we spent 5 days with our friends,an unforgettable experience.They took us to Amritsar to see the magnificent Golden Temple,and whilst it was 47 deg,we were blown away by the sight of this unbelievable building and the thousands of Sikh worshippers.The friendliness of the Sikhs and their hospitality is something I can't explain,we have never experienced anything like it.Then to the Wagah border ceremony,a great sight and certainly worth a visit.From Jalandhar up to Kashmir for a great 10 days of exploring the north,kindest cheers,Carol Wilson.

There's more to see in Chandigarh and its outskirts than just the rock garden. One should spend at least three days there, but of course in a better season.

I have found one day is always more than enough in Chandigarh unless you want to get seriously bored . Best to head of to Himachal after that.

I can spend a week in Chandigarh without getting bored. But then, one man's meat is another's poison!

Yes Shimla,we could have very easily spent a few days in Chandigargh but we were on a time restraint.We spent a few hours also around the lake whilst the kids took a boat ride,spent ages talking to so many of the friendly locals.The mango shakes were the best we had tried and the local Amul icecream was very tasty also.I have no doubt that it won't be long and Punjab will be a popular destination,kindest cheers.

True.

The only Punjabi city I would spend more than a day in would be Jullundhur.
