Living in Jalandhar for 3 months

Hi there,

I'm going to be coming from London to live in Jalandhar for around three months later this year in order to begin to build a base there (my family are from there and I speak Punjabi). Does anyone know if it's possible to get short term (3 month!) rentals in an area like Model Town for a 1 or 2 BHK flat, and what the rentals would be like?

Any contacts for local Agents I could 'phone or email would be welcome.

Also what's the situation with mobile broadband? I've read that EVDO has hit Jalandhar - anyone know if it's a decent service in terms of speed and reliability?

Good luck getting info on what kind of housing is available there. I have been trying now for quite some time to get info on the type of housing available in Ferozepur City, which I think is about two hours away. I think its just that there are hardly any IMers from that area. I've searched Magic Bricks and the other Indian real estate site to no avail. Posting an ad on Craigslist has also turned up nothing. I guess we will have to wait until we get there next week to find out. Hope you find something out soon.

Sharmscharms - the best of luck to you on your trip, hope you find something quickly. I've checked out the property sites too and there seems to be very little on there. Do let us know how the search goes - any tips you pick up on the way would be most welcome.
