Golden Triangle Trip Report

Hi All

I've been away a while, wandering. I'm not sure this is the right section of the forum. If not, I would appreciate advice and direction from the moderaters.

I would like to say thank you to all of the people here, particularly the ones who answered my various questions a few months ago when I was preparing for my Golden Triangle trip. This forum was a wonderful help and made a major difference to better planning and enjoying the visit.

I will be posting several reports on my blog, as part of a longer trip around the world. The first two related to India are:
Indira Gandhi Airport, Delhi
http://loraltravel.blogspot.com/2008...ort-delhi.html
On Indian Roads
http://loraltravel.blogspot.com/2008...ian-roads.html

There is a selection of photos of the world's wonders, including the Taj Mahal, here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/alan_s/...7604918996418/

Thanks again,

Funny and accurate description of Indira Gandhi airport. Loved the car ride account too. Is there more to come on India?

Thanks. Yes, there will be a few more. Some on specific sites or places - Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Amber Fort and similar, some on cities - Agra, Jaipur, Delhi - some on general things about India seen through the eyes of a first-time, briefly there, tourist. Hard to be sure until I write.

The overall trip, apart from India, had a "Temples and Pyramids" theme. If you look a few posts back in the blog you'll find Angkor Wat. Later will be Petra, Egypt, and Yucatan and places between.

Great blogs, Alan! I really liked your Taj photos - the Indian roads one reminded me of my friend who made an 'Overloading' series of photos to show her folks back home.
IG Airport, Delhi is very typical of many travellers' experiences, including my own a few months back - not a chair to rest your legs for 4 hours!

G'day again all.

I've been away so long this thread may be dead. If so, hopefully the moderators will move this to where it belongs.

I got sidetracked from my blog/trip report. Life got in the way. Anyway, I'm back and writing again.

Here are the later reports from my trip last March:

Hopefully next time you can travel a bit by train.
It's just so entertaining travelling with local people.
So much info to receive.
And don't forget a box of sweets and a packet of bickies to share around.

Here is my final report:

To Delhi
http://loraltravel.blogspot.com/2009/02/to-delhi.html

My apologies for the delay, it's just as well that I travel more rapidly than I write.

Thank you all. This forum was a marvellous aid in planning my trip with lots of useful advice and help.

Someday, I hope to return. In the meantime, my best wishes to you all.

Thanks for this last link, Alan. After reading your report about Karol Bagh market at night, I feel I should mention it is safe, but take precautions with your handbag if you have one. I had mine over my shoulder gripping the strap very tightly when at one minute as I was walking near Raffles Restaurant I felt it become 'light'. I moved it more to my front, held it tightly, and it wasn't until about half an hour later I noticed it had been slit along the bottom. Fortunately I had a handkerchief at that point, otherwise anything heavy would have dropped through the slit. I was lucky. Nothing missing. But it turned out that these are gangs of children with razor blades and they do this in very congested, crowded areas. Hold your bag well to your front in these circumstances!
