Chandigarh to Kausali is 64 kms (some sites say 51 km). No idea about the driving time though.

There are lots of good places to drink in Chd. Blue ice is good, also try Cafe Lyons. I personally like Zinc in sector 26 best. If you want to go to a club and dance you can go to Score (Sec 8) or Black Magic (IT park). Chandigarh to Kasauli should take about 1.5 hours, maybe more if there is a traffic jam in Kalka (common).

Ideal time to reach Kasauli by Evening around 5p.m. Because there are Limited Accomodation Availability, Just 2-3 pvt hotels & 1 HPTDC Hotel, for HPTDC Hotel you have to get Advance booking done, on the spot availability is rare.
Spend Night there, in Morning take walk upto Monkey Point, you can also drive there. From this point you can get a good view of Chandigarh, Panchkula etc.

Stayed at Ros common (HPTDC) several times and never have I booked in advance. The CHD crowd like to come for the day, make a lot of noise and go home. The Alasia also always has rooms available when I have enquired. Also there are more than 2-3 private hotels ranging from Gians to Maurice.....and a few others in between. The Alasia is one to avoid these days, the Delhi owners have left it to decay and have not spent a dime on it for years. The rooms have not even had a lick of paint for 10 years.

Ros Common is ok, not as clean as it could be but it is worth staying just for the tandoori stuffed chappatis (parote) for breakfast.

Venkat: You're going to Chandigarh or Kausauli?
if CHD then follow the info above about clubbing.
if for Kasauli, then why stop at CHD? people from CHD drive to Kausauli.
if it is a big weeekend it is wise to book in advance..
you can't miss the turn to your left on Shimla highway after you cross Kalka.

Hotel Akash Deep and several other hotels, all in a row, in Sector 22. These are located close to the Sector 17 bus stand.
Pub: Down Under in Sector 17 main market.
Kasauli: HPTDC The Ros Common Hotel. Tariff INR 2000 +

There are two routes to get to Kasauli, the one where your turn left just before the Dharampur dhabas is the better route. The road is in better condition than the other way.

Thanks

Hi All,
Thanks for the help and info you provided. I had been to CHD and kasauli.

It was a gud trip and the advices helped.

About CHD: I went to 'Score' on Friday, Voodoo was having a private party that nite.

Feedback for Score - it is not worth the cover charges. They took 1000 rs for a couple, out of which 750 was redeemable. No much of choice in liquor and a bit expensive. Opens till One AM, this still doesnt help as the lights and song selection is not great. But i feel this is enough for CHD youngsters. I saw localites enjoying the place. The security staff is not couteous enough and doesnt know how to behave with guests.

We ended up having food at the bus stand as there was nothing availabe anywhere at that time. The paranthas there were still better than the snacks at Score.

Kasauli - Good place. nice to spend a weekend. small and silent town. The best value for money is Hotel Aanchal, its next to the court. If you are going by your vehicle, you need to park it at teh parking next to the market and walk half a km but its a slope. we got a four bedded room which costs us 1100 rs. no much bargain possible as there are very few hotels there and most of them is expensive than this. food is fine at Aanchal.

There is a Tebitian market, from where nothing is worth buying as most of them can be bought from Monestry (near majnu ka tila)in Delhi. Secondly, the goods you see in this tebitian market are not original branded, made locally in tebit. But the other small local market which has some wollens is gud buying. Manky point is a place which is under Defence monitor. It has a temple of Monkey God which required you to climb up the mountains. open only till 4 PM. We didnt go to this temple.

Overall it was trip worth going on a weekend.
