Current Political Climate in the Punjab.
I'm browsing through the Indian press trying to find out if everything is back to normal after the rioting 2 months ago in the Punjab (Jalandhar). I can't find anything about it in the press or any other thread covering this on IM.
Can anyone update me on the current political scene and any areas that I should avoid? Amritsar is the place I will definitely visit on my trip even though I haven't finalised the rest of my itinerary. Thanks for your help! |

political climate is safe and calm. there were political protests for over a week. moreover these protests were not directed against anyone. the matter rests.
well, a point of worry maybe the atmospheric climate - lack of rains in this agrarian state - than the political heat. All quiet on this front. Amritsar and Wagah border (indo-pak) are a must in this state. best. |
