We will be staying at the Kisan Bhawan in Chandigarh. Has anyone else stayed there? How was it?

I think that I stayed there in 1997. If it was the same place .... nope, just found a expense list and it was Panchayat Bhawan.

Kisan Bhawan is not good idea...people drink in evenings and make noise. usualy upper class PUNJAB FARMERS and POLITICIAN related stuff as it is free to some and discounted for some.
I suggestyou should try SHIVALIK VIEW, MOUNTVIEW etc. These are better than KISAN BHAWAN. |

We are back from India. We ended up staying at the City Heart Hotel in Sector 17. This worked out OK and the staff was very friendly and the restaurant quite good. We received a discount and paid Rs 1,200/night.

Anyone have contact details for City Heart Hotel or can recommend a nice clean place in central Chandigarh? Stayed in the Komfort Inn which was ok but the staff were not good. Need somewhere for a few more weeks whilst we try and find a room. Am currently in Shimla or would walk and find the place myself so please dont think I am being totally lazy!
thanks

City Heart Hotel in Chandigarh: Bridge Road, Andhra Bank Bldg, Sector 17-C. Tel: Area code 172, 272-4203, 508-6202, or 507-9935. E-mail: info@cityheartpremium.com. Web: www.cityheartpremium.com. We stayed there in February when we were in town for a wedding. We found it very comfortable and the staff was very friendly.

I stayed at Panchayat Bhawan on my very first night in India (1971)! Loved the room! The people there didn't quite know what to do with a couple of foreigners, but they were pleasant about it.

Thanks for the replies guys. Had a look at city heart today when I arrived but decided against it. It is ok but a little pricey and the room I looked at wasn't too clean, mind you most places in Chandigarh are expensive.
Am going to look at a room at Jullunder tomorrow Eopperman so will let you know how it looks. |

Someone has recommended Mohali as having more modern aparments etc. Just dreaming of finding a decent bathroom and kitchen.. My budget has to last me forever as I have decided to take (very) early retirement So I need to be careful if my paltry sum is going to last me the next 40 years - even in India! Maybe should choose a cheaper city... |

Avoid sector 35 for low budget. I think there are some guest houses which are popular with rickshaw people. I once stayed in one for 250 INR. Not bad...it was October..and it was nice !!
