amritsar-->dharamsala?
i'm getting a bit greedy (and maybe irrational?) about what i can see on a tentatively planned trip in february. i was planning on delhi-to-dharamsala (via pathankot) by train. now i wonder about the possibility of adding amritsar on the way to dharamsala. looks like delhi and amritsar are well connected by air and, in this somewhat dated thread, someone wrote:
Getting from Amritsar to Dharamsala is quite painless. I think there's one direct bus each day, or you can change in Pathankot. There are many buses/trains from Amritsar to Pathankot (21Rs/3hrs), and many buses from Pathankot to Dharamsala (66Rs/3hrs). has anyone got any current intelligence on getting from amritsar to dharamsala, or nearby, by bus, rail, jeep-taxi, or otherwise?

Amritsar and Pathankot are well connected and transportation should not be a major concern...
Specially the buses, even though the fares mentioned might have changed a bit..but nothing to worry about.. |

hi, i did this trip by local bus last year, amritsar bus station to dharamsala. It was about 7 hours if i remember correctly. The cost i forget but is really quite negligible.

thanks, kidsan.
i guess i'll contact a travel agent to see if i can get schedule information, as it will, to some extent, dictate my itinerary. |

Buses would be quite regular in the sector...if not for Dharamshala then Pathankot atleast..and from Pathankot, Dharamshala would not be a problem..
besides the tourist thing, Pathankot and Amritsar are two very important cities in Punjab..they are well connected.. |
