Question Volunteering in Pune

Hello all,

My girlfriend and I will be moving to Pune for 4 months in July 2009. She will be studying and I'm trying to find some volunteer work that I can get on with if at all possible.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any volunteer work available either in or around the surrounding areas of pune which is reasonably accessible. I'll have my own motorbike too for transport.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for that rajered.

Because I am still in the UK at the moment I was hoping to find some information online before hand so I can see what is available. I think I would have to visit the rotary club in person to find what volunteering opportunities are available.

Can anyone else help at all?

Well,

Welcome to Pune Dear Friend,

If you could have come some years ago you could have easily got an employment in any call centre. But now I feel the employment laws are strict, do you have work permit / visa for the same?

Hi there rsk. I'll be getting my visa in about 2 weeks time but I wasn't sure if it would be better just to get a tourist visa as I have been unable to find any work before getting to pune. That is why I wanted to give volunteering a shot, as I would only need to get a tourist instead of a working visa.

If I was able to find paid work I'd be happy to apply for a working visa.

Thanks again

Hi sahin,

I would like to volunteer at Bharati Hospital, Katraj, Pune
but I am not able to find any information on the internet could you put me in contact with one of the directors

thanks

Oh and if people have any other organizations to share I am open to all your suggestions. I'm looking to volunteer in the field of public health and medicine since I am a first year medical student in montreal.
At the beginning I was looking for mobile clinics opportunities but I was not able to find any...

thanks
