Hi All,

I am planning to travel by car from Pune to Khandwa > Harda > Nasrullaganj (MP) via Aurangabad as I didn't get train tickets to Hoshangabad.

Here, If anybody has visited recently through this route, please guide me on following:
1. Road condition from Pune > Ahmed Nagar > Aurangabad > Bhusawal > Khandwa > Harda.

2. Is that a toll road? If then how many tolls and how much?

3. Can I travel alone in a single day, atleast upto Khandwa, so that in khandwa I can take rest?

4. Where to take lunch, etc.? any other information wants to share.

However, Once I back to Pune, I will update the travellog with details of road conditions, toll plaza, traffic conditions everything.

Please reply me ASAP if possible as I am planing to leave Pune by 12th Apr 2014 in early morning.

Thanks,

Some answers

1. Road condition from Pune > Ahmed Nagar > Aurangabad > Bhusawal > Khandwa > Harda. - Aurangabad to Khandwa is very good (december 2012 update)

2. Is that a toll road? If then how many tolls and how much? It is. Dont remember how much we paid.

3. Can I travel alone in a single day, atleast upto Khandwa, so that in khandwa I can take rest? We did Khandwa-Aurangabad in less than half a day so calculate based on maps.

Good luck!

Brajesh its a two lane road but dont worry about the traffic. Khandwa-Jamner (if i recall correctly) or bhusawal will be under MP and is a great road. Deteriorates after you enter Maharashtra. If it works for you (if you're going to bhopal side), the much better option is to go Pune-Aurangabad-Indore (using AB road)-bhopal. Aurangabad-Bhopal is throughout 4 lane and much faster route.

Some photos of the route are here: <Road Trip> The Other Left – 2500 kms Self-Drive with Parents -Malwa-Ajanta-Jhalawar and in Ajanta-ellora report in my signature.

Overall, MP side roads are very good.

Friday 11, 2014 evening before the trip, I checked my car and fueled it to full tank and got ready one of my punctured tyre and kept some water bottles in freezer so that I can get chilled water on the way as I had to travel in summer. I also kept some wafers and fruits.

On Saturday 12, 2014 I have started at sharp 4:00 AM, I crossed A’med Nagar at 6:05 AM and crossed Aurangabad by 7:48AM. Then I took a break of 20 mins 20km ahead from Aurangabad.

At 8:20AM I again started towards Bhusawal and reached there by 11 AM and kept continue driving till Burhanpur, then again took a break of 10mins and eat some delicious Samosa and poha, and took a tea. Got refresh, and started again towards Khandwa reached khandwa by 1:00PM where I stayed for 4 hours at my relative’s place. At 6:10PM I started from Khandwa and reached Harda by 8PM where I took night halt at my relative’s place (which I already planned to stay at both the relatives’ place).
Next day I reached my home town Nasrullaganj, and then Bhopal the other day. After spent good time more than a week in Bhopal then I back to my home town and stayed 2 days over there and then started towards Pune in early morning on Saturday 26, 2014 at 4AM and reached Pune by 10PM sharp continue driving, of course took some lunch, tea and pee breaks of 90mins.
About roads and tolls
1. Pune > A’med Nagar > Aurangabad – All 4 lane road with tolls of around Rs. 160.00 (Approximately as not distinguished the entire toll receipt).

2. Aurangabad > Bhusawal – 2 Lane road with potholes (that appears suddenly in front of you and you don’t have enough time to apply breaks) but not so bad, maharashtra state transport buses (the red buses) irritate sometime while overtaking, they don’t give side easily.

3. Bhusawal > Burhanpur – As in between both the cities MH-MP border comes, so you can take breath about the ST buses and from the MP border you will find the awesome roads with proper road markings and smoothness of the roads. Very good road signs and all, you will love to drive.

4. Burhanpur > Khandwa > Harda > Nasrullaganj > Bhopal – Roads are awesome (except 15km road to khandwa where construction is going on) and total toll I paid in MP is Rs. 163.00.

Total toll I paid in my whole trip (one side) is Rs. 383.00.

Overall, I enjoyed the trip, if anybody needed some more information so ask me on this forum.

Will update images soon..

Thanks,
Brajesh
