I would consider Koregaon park, Kalyani nagar, Shivajinagar, Aundh as cosmopolitan areas. But these would be far away from your workplace (Except may be Aundh...It is not near your workplace but neither it is too far...You can consider this area)
Pimpari chinchwad area is upcoming area so not much cosmopolitan.(No offence PCMC residents ;-))But it would be near your workplace. If cosmopolitan localities is not requirement, then you can consider Bunglows in Shahunagar, Pradhikaran in PCMC area(Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal area). (I suppose that you would have local driver for your car, otherwise look for location nearby your workplace ;-)) |

Thanks for reply Subhash.
Consmopolitan is not an absolute. I need an area where environment is pleasant & noise is minimum & less interefence from neighbours. I will drive albeit less commutation is ideal. Thanks again and enlight me more if you can? |

If you want less commutation then PCMC area is good. I don't know other good localities beside those mentioned above. (I can suggest you some localities after i talk with my uncle residing there). Or otherwise you can consider Aundh(Medium level of commutation).
My suggestion would be..If company gives you accommodation, then take it for initial 15 days or month; so that you can get to know the area well, then you would be in better position to decide. |

I agree Pimple nilakh and Pimple saudagar are an ideal location as long as you have your own/office provided commute.
Do not expect any feasible/decent/convinient public transport if you choose the above localities. |

one of the biggest problems with the city is its poor public transport.
it would be too primitive to give you a clear picture on how easy/complicated would it be for you to commute, since you still not fixed on a place. I will try to get some details on commuting from pimple nilakh/gurav. But i will reccomend on either managing a vehicle or try to ask your company for some kind of commute. |

Hi,
Accomodation in Pimpri Chinchwad should not be an issue. Google on Pune and you will see lot of townships besides the road. Why besides the road, public transport bad in internal areas and auto dont ply by fare. Look for Sukhwani Campus, Goel Gange, Empire estate all by the Mumbai Pune road or 10-15 minutes walking distance. You should be getting 2bhk flat at around 7k with 40-50k deposit. If you will drive then Sukhwani Campus is towards Mumbai maximum 10 minutes. Goel Ganga 15 minutes todays Mumbai. Empire Estate 10 minutes todards Pune. A lot of foreigners are seen here nowadays, may be because of GM at Talegaon. If looking for Bunglow then look at Nigdi Pradhikaran area. you might get entire bunglow on rent. Nigdi to Kharalwadi will take 15 minutes drive. If you are by the road side then now you will have plenty of buses to move from office to your apartment. Multiplex and departmental store, Mac Donalds is 5 minutes walking distance from Empire estate. One last you wont find any Night entertainment in Pimpri-chinchwad. Hope this information helps. Happy stay in Pimpri-Chinchwad. |

Hi Isn
Thanks a ton for response. Its indeed comprehensive. I am not too sure by now about company transport so will zero in on place this weekend. Is it good to go by published online ads for rentals? or should I go down personally and negotiate |

Hi,
Negotiation is always better, as you could knock down few grands easily, specially in the current market situation. It might not work for non-natives Indians, but always negotiate & ask for "final price" before agreeing on anything. Its very normal & most probably the only way to get an accommodation in Pune is with the help of broker, who would charge you around a month of your rental. Ask your company & they will help you in getting touch of a broker / agent. For commute, public transport is not really great. If you are not getting any company transport, may be you can think of buying a car / bike of your own. If driving is an issue, you can get cheap chauffeur / driver as compared to UK standard or just rely on Auto rickshaws. Anyhow, Isn already wrote about buses & other things. |

Hi Wild Wings,
I recommend going personally to the place and have a look at it. The brokers are available with the company also. But first look for some other source like employee of the company who want to give additional flat on rent, likewise. This way you will get real price idea. And if it clicks you save on the brokerage which is 2 months rent. If you are coming to a manufacturing unit in Pimpri, they have there own transport buses, mostly free of cost. And a small correction, Empire Estate and Nigdi Pradhikaran are on the Mumbai side of Pimpri, Kharalwadi and Shukwani Campus and Goel Gange are towards Pune from Kharalwadi. About the company transport I would have listed the names of companies here, but thought that it would not be wise. |
