location for setting up a medium size holiday home for self and renting out

dear friends

i wish to set up a home for my self, and also rent it out to holiday makers, i am looking for a location, weather should be nice thru out the year, should fall in tourist circuit to ensure steady flow of guests, and at the same time should have basic amenities of a small town, or not very faraway from small town, basically the idea is to setup a charming home with few rooms to let and have the income to make more rooms and setup a nice resort in the long run....

and also put in a small camping area.... woudnt like to run it like a hotel... my guests should feel at home...

or something like a bed and breakfast accomodation setup... not very expensive but comfortable place with a nice ambience and character....

preferably near the mountains....

i have been reading many other threads, but still need your valuable feedback... remember its my hard earned money im going to invest...

pls do write

cheers

My first reaction is Varkala. If you want nice weather all year round (not really possible in India!) that is not too far away from the mountains then I don't think you can beat Varkala. Steady stream of tourists at all levels. Probably only going to get more popular.
Or have it got it totally wrong and you are looking to set up in a completely new area, not before visited by most tourists?

hi, friend,
I would prefer north Kerala, near Bekal fort beach as one of the one best places for this kind of concept,
