Jcbrum...

India.

No explanation!

Dzibead...

I'm sure we could do well, except people don't like paying for answers they don't want to hear .

And success this end depends entirely on contacts --- and a willingness to break the law, the giver of bribes being as guilty as the receiver.

So I guess we should reconsider the 'business opportunity'

Ha! You're telling me this? I have to deal with this daily in my practice: "No, you can't sue somebody for x, y, z ... No, it's not legal to do x, y, z ... Yes, I'm afraid if they sue you, they are likely to win ... Now please write me a check for $200."

Yeah, sorry, I meant that.

In London in February, I asked for a 5 year, bit cheeky, then I asked for renewal of my 1 year X. I was told that all their powers had been taken away and I could only have a 6 month (180 day) Tourist. I had all original documents with me relating to my last 2.5 years here but he wouldn't even look at them.

OK, Dzibead... we'll write each other cheques for $200 and call it a day

By the way... I actually visited a government office without it costing anything today. Remarkable!

Hi

Hope you don't mind me asking, as you live in India and have not had your X visa renewed, are you going in and out every 180 days? If that is the case, is it legal to renew your visa straight away and then return, is this what they call "back to back"? Also what are your views on the 6 months tourist visa becoming a 3 month one, is it just rumours or could it unfortunately become fact?

I am also stuck in this property hole, purchased what I thought was freehold in Dec 05 (when you could still get X visas, enabling you to get residency and deeds). It is still surprising that people don't want to believe and are carrying on thinking they are purchasing! Unfortunately for me there is nothing I can do, but sit and wait, keeping everything crossed.

Regards

Did she not give any reason? any justification? Perhaps they'll be handing out citizenship next!

I am not doubting your post, jcbrum. But surely there must be a fragment more information behind this.

Otherwise... Forget the Tourist visa, folks, just put X on the application form!

The X visa expired on departure. If not I would've had to apply for renewal in March 07 (90 days before) and without doubt I would've received the letter. I must leave August 5th, so I've decided to take a holiday in Chiang Mai, as I couldn't fit it in in my last tour. Yes you can get back to back visas. Re the 3 month, if they can't stop the rot I think that they'll cut it to 30 day entry and then add all the other types, like most other countries do. Europeans can get 5 year 180 day limited visas now.
Good luck...........

A far as i know she just made an appointment in London. One point is that her boyfriend knows somebody who works there, but it still shows that they do have the authority to issue them.I know someone else who is trying to get one i will let you know how she gets on.

If I knew someone who knew someone etc. I would bung 'em. Anything is cheaper than getting out every 180.
