Did drake only have one eye then like nelson

GC, All I was suggesting is that the since the RBI is fully informed of the reason for the foreign currency transfer and exchange into INR, they should refuse the convert the currency if the recipient is planning to do something "illegal" with it (in this case purchasing property) Allowing the currency conversion and then threatening to confisticate the property is not ethical. But, then we are speaking about the Indian govt.

Well, quite!

When I convert GBP to INR I do so via an online service. I select a purpose (I usually put family maintenance, but did put property for much of the money that went into our house). But while that may get tagged onto the ICICI Bank's record (and perhaps even forwarded to my bank) it is not as if the transaction will be seen or approved by RBI.

Noni... you seem remarkably philosophical in what must be a worrying situation. Maybe you figure that being any other way is just a waste of energy.

I remitted 50000 sterling from the UK to Goa. It went via HSBC Mumbai before reaching my bank here. I did not ask for any permission nor was asked any questions. Maybe I filled a form where I would have stated property purchase and living costs as the reason. I don't remember any hassle. I have a Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate issued by my bank.

"Have of read" of what?

It isn't very helpful to refer people to an entire website without providing the URL or a hyperlink, and without identifying a particular section or post on the website that you are suggesting that people look at.

noni, I know the "address" of the British Expats' site, but put yourself in the position of someone new to this thread and new to the topic. Have you provided a way for a person in that position to track down what you are referring to? No. Try at least typing www.britishexpats.com, or better yet, cutting and pasting the URL of the particular post you would like people to read. Even identifying the "Acron" thread on that site still doesn't tell anyone which particular message you would like them to go to. I'm certainly mystified by what you are asking us to look at.

Apologies once again, but I am a dim dizzy blonde, I have learnt to-day that if I click on to your tread of the expat address I am redirected to that site. I am not computer literate, perhaps you can eductate me on copy, cut paste and the other things you mentioned.
I was only wanting to help people, in my position to look at the www.Britishexpats.com
site Goa Forum to look at what was being said yesterday on the Acron thread, and also the Buyer Beward thread. It is amazing that people like Old Man and Douglas to name a few are not believed.

I'll PM you and explain how to do it. It comes in handy, and it'll make your posts a lot more understandable.

I know, but sending them to the whole site without more specific direction will just make them go . So as I said, I'll PM you with info on how to put a link in your post and that kind of stuff.
