No specific advice, but I suppose you have read these; though the title may suggest it is only for foreigners, some of the pitfalls are common, and will impact you (and even resident Indians) as well.

Agricultural Land
Nick-H,
Been reading through the forum, and your name appears quite regularly on issues related to PIO cards, so I'm directing this question to you, however others may be able to shed light on the topic. I'm expecting to receive my PIO card fairly soon, as an Aussie married to an Indian (Arunachali) girl. I know there is a restriction on myself purchasing agricultural/plantation lands as a PIO cardholder, however, do you know whether this regulation could be sidestepped if I opened a Ltd company in India, say with my wife and I as directors? Would I then be able to acquire such land? Cheers, |

No, sorry, I have no idea, but if your wife is an Indian citizen, then you just buy in her name, assuming that she is qualified to buy such land in the state/area of your choice.
It requires that you have complete trust in your wife, of course, but then, one assumes that you have, given that you married her ![]() |
