Chose it with main ground high enough above sea level...

They say that the level of the oceans will rise significantly in the foreseable future...

The process has already started.

Question :- have you been to the andamans ?

Barefoot resorts which run the classiest resorts at havelock have leased the avis islands in the north of the andamans for 30 years.

Im planning to lease some land through my pals over there. So first so check out the islands get the feel of the place. And then decide.

Buying an island is out of the question also you need to know indians cannot migrate there legally .

I've for years had a fantasy of owning my own private island paradise and have looked on sites, but have never heard of any islands for sale in the Andamans. If you could afford an island, then you can afford to travel, so there's lot's of islands 4 sale around the world. e.g. You can get some pretty cheap one's in the Philippines.

Here's some good sites about islands 4 sale,

Bloody hell.

For some general background reading I'd advise this Hindustan Times special: http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/specials/andaman/

I remember something about some British eccentric establishing his own nation on a North Sea oil platform or something to that effect, have trouble finding anything about it though. Maybe others will know.

Any Indian can buy an island if an individual owns it. The problem is finding an island owned privately by an individual and then convincing him/her to sell it.

As an Indian, you are also free to migrate to the Andamans and even buy land but you cannot claim "Islander" status unless you have been living there prior to a certain year(I don't remember which), which is the cut off year for claiming "Islander" status.
