A meeting in Bangladesh would be great, still not sure when I will be there though, probably January or March (still negotiating with work), but should have about a month in Bangladesh mostly Sylhet, Chittagong and down to St. Martins Island.

BTW, thanks for posting the words to Pakistani Pat.

I personally prefer travelling alone, I sometimes just pick up my bag and jump on a train, doesn't matter where it's going, get off a while later and wander about.

I get bored with beaches & temples and amused by things that others don't, I am just as happy in the centre of Mumbai as I would be in a tiny village.

If I had my way I would travel to the end of a railway line just to see what’s there, all of these things make me a poor travel companion.

As for a Partner, apart from on this site or in India, I have never met a woman who wanted to go to India, if I ever did and I thought she wanted the same kind of holiday as me, I'm sure it would take the whole experience to a higher level.

Mmm I wonder if he's ever been? maybe he needs a guide!!

I've tried many of the above categories--and still have to vote for solo, though if Preity Zinta develops a tinge of wanderlust she's more than welcome to come with.

I used to love travelling alone - I could be absolutely selfish, go where I wanted and spend as much time as I liked in places that interested me. But I sometimes missed having someone to share the experiences with.

Now that I have a partner I prefer having him around for the same reasons Cyberhippie mentioned, we enjoy the same things and can enjoy the same memories into our old age....

i like to think i've traveled around india alone, but that's not quite what happened.

the first 6 days i was in the company of a driver who took me through the golden triangle. i was alone when i went in monuments and at night, but had pleasant company during the daily drive.

the last week and 1/2 i was with friends of mine that are locals. we traveled around madurai and chennai. it was great having someone who knew where to go, and what to see, guide me. also, they weren't doing it for money, so i didn't have to worry in that respect. (ie: seeing sights that gave them a kickback payment)

the only time i was truly alone was on the train trip from delhi to chennai. it was relaxing, but i would have liked someone to talk with. everyone else kept their curtains closed... the whole time !! (2AC)

the next time i go to india i plan to go with my partner. he's a native, also, so it should be great. he's lived all over india, but there are places he hasn't seen and places he'd like to revisit.

it makes me smile to remember the brief time i spent in india. i am anxiously awaiting my next adventure there.

I've done all my trips with Camelboy (aka my husband). It really works out well. We take turns watching each other's stuff while the other one gets tickets, etc. Also, when one of us gets sick (which is inevitable) we can look after each other. We always take a break to do separate things--he has a lower tolerance for "shopping"--and I get sick of certain sights after awhile...Everywhere, not just India. No Museum today, sorry maybe tomorrow.

I'll drink to that! and then drink some more to that! and then drink some more to that! Then have some peyote to top it off... Ahh...jim would have been a laugh to haul around india i imagine!

I went to Thailand for some time in '01 with my at-the-time girlfriend and found it easy as she was so, so, so organised I never had to think where we were going (awful I know) but it had severe drawbacks I wont go into.

I am happy to be going around India on my own now after one argument too many, but fear being alone for the whole trip.

Just me and my mind. It's gonna be a long ol' year!

I like to take my chances. I always find in traveling nothing ever goes the way you anticipated, usually it's a lot better, and that includes the people you find to hang out with as you go along.

I'd like to go through India with Sonja Gandhi. After the tragedy at Lucknow during her election campaign - she needs to see the real India and properly understand it. She has a good heart, but as a white, catholic woman, she needs to really know the people.
