None of the above for sure. I don't worship the "sun" and with maybe one exception these are valueless airheads. Still, I had a chance to meet Alan Greenspan and in the heady moment I took a picture without taking a picture of someone who recognized me after more than a decade and introduced me. I felt like warmed over manure. Beat me with sticks somebody. Wait a minute, that might be misunderstood..

What a nice thread to have been rediscovered . IndiaMike archaeology award to Shanthi.

I chose Aish, of course. Why? Oh, come on! (another good reason is it would probably have meant that I'd got an upgrade to First ). I've never met her and probably never will but we do have a mutual friend, so that would be a conversation opener.

Wait! Perhaps, "Bet you hoped to get the Dalai Lama in the seat next to you..." would be a better opening line. I know someone who shared a train trip in UK with the DL.

The best companion of all, of course is one's own partner. This year I had the magic experience of taking my partner on her very first flight

Failing that... a small and well-behaved child. They are fun when awake, tend to sleep a lot and don't take up much room. Coming back to London last year I was horrified to see that I had been put with a mum and two small boys ---but they were great, and I didn't even mind the youngster next to me falling asleep with his head on my arm.

Well, from the original list I decided to pick Ozzie, because he's known for liking a beer or two. I reckon he'd be a right laugh.

Aish would be great but I'd probably end up being moved very quickly. I suspect comments about 'mile' and 'high' wouldn't go down so well.....

Hmmm, Dalai Lama? / Harrison Ford? Dalai Lama? / Harrison Ford? Dalai Lama? / Harrison Ford?

...I ultimately betrayed my shallow nature by opting for Harrison (as long as the stick-insect wife isn't with him of course)
