Since I'm heterosexual the "opposite sex" bit didn't bother me, but I would tend to rephrase the question:
"Have you ever travelled hoping to have a sexual liason?"

i have travelled to thailand hoping to have a sexual leason, but never realy wanted to when i got there.

i never travel to india hoping to have a sexual leason, but always want one when i get there.

could this be that in thailand its always available if you want it but in india it is not?

Being paired up now, I have to think back... sexual liaison yes, relationship no. And then again, I never traveled for the purpose of having a sexual liaison, I just traveled for travel's sake, and a sexual liaison was a nice thing to come along. But I somewhow never thought it would be meaningful...and it never was, when I scored, both with locals and other travelers (Europe).
From talking to other travelers, I found that they were more successful with fellow travelers than with locals, no matter where they were.

This is the raison detre of my existence.

I do find it curious how female 'romantic' travel on the subject is politically correct but heterosexual sex travel is taboo. And gay men have entire travel guides on the subject of getting laid while travelling. Yet two publishers I know who produced books on the subject (Mac Horn's 'Gentleman's Guide' and Fielding's 'S.E. Asia guide') had respectivelly zero acceptance from book stores and had to rewrite a book dsiguised as a general travel guide.

Some day I might do a video on the gigilo trade in Bali. I find women's comments about how it isn't prostitution quite amusing. I ask 'Did you have sex with a local?' if they asnwer yes I ask if money was exchanged. If the answer is yes I ask which direction it went in. Invariably it goes from higher status/income to lower. While strictly speaking marriages and liasions between citizens of third world countriess and those of globehopping persons are not commercial sex, money is usually a significant factor. I don't have a problem with this. I'd just like to se honesty on the subject.

But of course Indiamike's question was about whether travelers from Stuttgart had sex with tourists from Colgne... ;-)

I think every guy begins hoping for a liason the moment he step on a plane . There's that moment when you spot the gorgeous brunette at the end of the plane you hope against hope that her seat is next to yours. But alas it never is, you invariably get stuck with a seat between two large men. Making every trip to the bathroom an unforgettable journey. Which is bad but not as bad as my last trip. When I got stuck next to a sixty year old german couple who didn't stop making out like teenagers the entire 13 hour flight. And I'd also like mention the fact that stewardess having a retirement age of 60 isn't helping the overall flying experience. Well enough with the ranting & raving. Anybody ever kicked it on a plane?

last time i travelled- having sexual experiences soon became my no.1 priority, however that just isn't the case in india- there's lots of beautiful women here but i couldn't see it happening too easily. last time i loved the exoticness of foreign girls and must admit i found western travelling girls very plain in comparison. i'm just gonna have to lower my standards. (if anyone will have me that is)

I have to second that. I don't go with the intent of meeting someone, but invariably find some men quite handsome and wish there was some way to hire them or spend some time with them without the pressure to negotiate romance.

It always comes up, if you know what I mean.

India sounds quite homophobic and lust from a remote distance sounds as safe as, well, you know.
