Fave Fort in Rajasthan
Asking for the most beautiful.. the best... is always difficult, we never agree, so I simple ask about your favorite fort in Rajasthan (+ Agra)
I mentioned 6 but if your fave is another one, please tell us. Last edited by steven_ber : Feb 12th, 2004 at 10:41. |

I didn't like that much Jaipur and Jodhpur, as cities. I found Jaisalmer and Udaipur the best places.
But the best fort or palace were between Amber Fort (Jaipur) and Mehrangarh fort (Jodhpur). I just arrived from Rajsthan, so now I can vote on my own poll. I voted for Amber fort, though Merangarhg is great also. And as I said initially, each place has each own beauty. Hard to choose the best. |

It is the same story with hill stations and beaches. I have a soft spot for Mehrangarh Fort - in fact, on the wall, just above the computer in my study, I have a large picture of it.

This is sooooo cool! The best and historicalkly most important fort isn't on the list! Maybe there's hope for a non-touted place left in RJ after all

Kumbhalgargh ,Kumbhalgargh ,Kumbhalgargh
For me Kumbhalgargh wins hands down!! A very impressive fort set atop an nigh on inpregnable buttress inside perimeter walls who's length is second only to the great wall of china.
Inside the perimeter walls 300 jain temples 60 hindu temples a dam which used to contain an artificial lake, several baoris. The most beautiful aspect of this fort though; it's setting, set amongst some of the most beautiful countryside Rajasthan has to offer!! The views from some of the lesser gates is just staggering!!!!!! |

"Must see" forts:
1. Mehrangarh: easily one of the top sights in all India 2. Jaisalmer 3. Kumbhalgarh Nice but it's okay if you don't see them: Bikaner Amber Worth to see because of its historic content: Agra |

Very nice answer. Each one has it's speciality. Still for me the best one is Kumbhalgarh, specially at the monsoon.
