Which Polarizer to buy for Digicam?

Hi
I am planning to buy a Polarizer for my Digicam, i dont know which one to buy, there are so many. Can anybody recommend any particular one for all conditions(not too expensive). I have a Sony Cybershot camera.

Is it camera dependant or can it be used with any camera?

Thanks

Digital cameras usually require what is known as a circular polarizer. The auto focus and light metering can be thrown off if a linear polarizer is used. You'll have to determine the size of the mounting threads in millimeters of your lens to get the correct diameter. Are there threads at the front of the lens? Most point and shoots don't have threads to attach filters. Now the bad news... circular polarizers tend to be quite expensive. Which model number Cybershot are you using?

You're going to need an adapter to put a polarizer on your camera (I had the same one). The adapter is made by Canon and costs around $20. I don't remember the model number, but the filter size is 58mm. I had a circular polarizer by Hoya that was great. It was about $40 or so. You might be able to get a good condition used one if you have a decent camera shop nearby.
