It's not Pushkar.Actually, I find the style of the buildings (or rather the building on the left) somewhat typical for that place/area but it may also be that I'm just imagining this.

Actually, I had a crappy night's sleep, though you were only partly to blame (a malfunctioning lawnmower scattered in pieces all over the garage floor was chiefly responsible).
And now I've got distaff nagging on about Jaisalmer up toward the fort. Well, maybe, but we wonder if the lane is fancy enough for Jaisalmer.
I must say, we keyed in at once on the building on the left, on both the trick steps and the brackets. Hasn't proved much help, though.
The lane does have more than a little resemblance to one in a Bhil tribal village/town about 25km from Udaipur ... but if that is the lane I walked down, I was walking in the other direction and not looking back as the guy who knew the way was fed up with the 'dilly-dally' mouse bringing up the rear.

aarosh, tilak, and hfot2 - you are all wrong.
I'll give you a clue: Many people come to this place to do something they cannot do anywhere else within a radius of, say, 300km (very rough estimate, I haven't got a map handy; could be more).
Uncle Martin, you're also wrong.

And the winner is: hfot2 (or one of them). It's Diu town.
I think the building on the left looks 'Portuguese', or at least not 'Indian', but it may just be my imagination.

Great! Couldna dunnit without the clue. So, to review: you've given me a lousy night's sleep, and now I'm in the midst of a terrific squabble with distaff over which of us said Diu. And the mower is still in bits and pieces on the garage floor.
If I were you, I'd count this a day's work well done.
(And by the way, not to be utterly dyspeptic or anything, but I don't think that building looks the least bit Portuguese.)
