Let us see what they offer They may offer just a correction. But then seriously, thanks a lot for all the inputs and support. IM and my blog friends rule!

I'd settle for a season ticket!

Given that the 'photographer' has admitted the fault, you may not get very far with the airline, All they did was 'genuinely' buy a pic from a photographer.

Heard from the editor again. He says they will print a correction in the next issue and pay me for the picture. Also said they would try to put a system in place so that such incidents can be minimized. I asked if I could get a copy of the issue in which the clarification occurs. I hope I will! The editor didn't mention what they would pay I didn't ask. But I think this should be the end of the matter.

Sounds better than expected yes Means they take it seriously I reckon.

Hey, as indicated before, it can't hurt to kick back if you can muster it. Which doesn't mean you're a wooz if you don't. Anyway, happy for you with the outcome. One or two persons more with a backbone (you and they) can never hurt.

Congratulations mridula.

Well, this type of scandals now a days becoming common. I am always fear of posting my picture or pictures taken by me in the internet. Still i always suggested my friend who loves photography to upload a picture online with your website url or at least your name & email id as watermark.

You are lucky enough to get paid for your picture, else many people just deny that they have copied from some other source. With watermark, people who want to use your original picture can contact you for buying (only when you are interested to sell).

Also, in addition to adding a watermark, one should preferably restrict the image size to no more than 500 pixels on the longerside and have lower dpi's- arnd 50- 60

Just out of interest, aren't those watermarks quite easily removed with a decent photo editor? I reckon publishing your pics on the web in a low resolution is the more sure-fire solution indeed.

That's what I heard as well .... apparently a combined digital watermark and hidden digital signature is much more 'sticky'.

Digimarc claims to be a 'stickier' watermark, I have not tried it myself.
