I don't think so.

The manual is pretty comprehensive about what is there; it is just not very good at explaining it. Or that was my feeling about my S2 book.

Don't understand the reference to Photoshop: you mean you want to crop the pic using photoshop while it is still on the card? Well, they are JPG files, I think, so I don't see why not.

I don't understand using Photoshop to edit pictures in the camera either..may be there is a way to do it, I don't know.. Perhaps what you mean is a camera with built in editing features, 'in-camera-editing' features. Here's an older article after a quick search:

Quote:
Las Vegas, Nevada, March 8, 2007 – Today, HP introduced the Photosmart R837, which includes its new in-camera Photo Touch Up and Pet-Eye Fix features. The 7.2-megapixel camera comes with a host of in-camera editing capabilities, along with an increased LCD screen size. The HP R837 has a retail price of $229.99 and is slated for an April releasein North America, Latin America, and select European countries.

I'm sure there are many more cameras now with these features.

Personally, I'm not sure of how good or accurate any editing would be on a 2 - 3 inch screen.

I think you should regard this as a photoshop problem.

It is a piece of software I find completely baffling, even for simple tasks so I cannot make any suggestions.

I'm wih you there Nick, after trying out a whole bunch of software (wasting a lot of money too) I realized that I'm never going to be a pro photographer to put in full time hours into Photoshop etc.

I've settled on Picasa which I use 95% of the time. Simple interface.Besides it also keeps track of the pictures on my hard drive.

Paint.NET, Gimp and many others are free and more complex, as mentioned several times on this board.

Very nice: I bet you're even more impressed with the unreduced originals, filling your screen with a few pieces of corn!

Macro and super macro takes a bit of getting to grips with. If you use the flash, reduce the intensity (it is controllable)

No, you don't have that option. The pics are saved on the memory card as JPGs.

One of the people with a pro camera will have to tell us what it is! It would be very rare to find on even a higher-end consumer ("pro-sumer"; isn't that a horrible marketing word?!) camera such this.

You could try diffusing the flash , both for cutting down the intensity and getting a softer light. One way to do this is to use a slotted film canister.

Jpeg is what you get from the S5IS . Working with layers in photoshop the format is psd , which keeps the layers separated , like a stack of slides on top of each other. When you save the image as a jpeg the stack is flattened .

Layers is one the best basic functions in PS : before doing anything else mark all ( Ctrl + A in Windowese ) copy all (Ctrl + C), pasting (Ctrl +V ) now creates a new duplicate layer that you can work on. Toggle between the two different layers to see the differences , create new duplicate layers when you start to feel uncertain. Save/flatten the final image by making only the stuff you like visible (the eye icon ) and save the visible layers under the edit menu.

Sorry if I´m repeating what you already are doing , I think your photos are smashing.

hey all,
I do things without understanding or by fluke....when ever you talk about layers...i am confused con when i make chnages in photoshop all i do is import image from the adjust tab i change the contrasts...i have never tried layers..like people have suggested.....i tried using PS for signature using the layers it never happened or lets say i was not able to do so.....i did get all the info on the side where the layers were displayed but the ultimate signature i could not see after i saved ....dont know what went wrong.......i tried reading from below link...

http://www.photoxels.com/tutorial-signature.html

when i typed the signature it never appeared on the layer 1 ..the one which was open on the photoshop page...
however i could see the three layers with my signature(third layer)background the second and layer 1....

can any one help......while serching the net i learned another way but if i use that the signature cannot be removed...

Do you put that on your flash so that the subject does not receive direct light.......
