Ultra Wide Lenses

Anyone used the Sigma 10-20 mm OR Tamron 10-24 mm lens? How is their optical performance, sharpness, etc.?

Which one seems better?

I use the Sigma 10-20mm on a Nikon DSLR and it seems like a fine lens. Can't comment on the Tamron as I've never used one.
Sigma has come out recently with a constant aperture f/3.5 version, but hear on the web that the older one has better corner sharpness.

Take a look around these sites and you'll probably find some tests/comparisons. http://www.dpreview.com/ http://photo.net/community/

I think I may have used a friend's Sigma wide angle. Not sure whether he still has it. I do remember that I didn't particularly like the fisheye effect and instead decided to go for the Tamron 18-200 and use software to make panoramas if I wanted, but that's just my choice/budget. I've had no problems with the Tamron lens (I've posted wide and zoomed in photos elsewhere).

Why not go for the Tamron 10-24, after you've read the reviews?

Quote:
Conclusion - Pros

* Equal widest angle in its class, and largest zoom range (by a whisker)
* Low distortion
* Generally good resistance to flare

Conclusion - Cons

* Soft wide open (low local contrast)
* Soft corners at all focal lengths and apertures
* Wide diameter lens hood takes up lots of space in a bag

Thanks for the inputs. Nikon has also come out with its Nikon 10-24 lens. Anybody used this?
