Tripods - where allowed

I'm taking my tripod with me and I was wondering where bringing them would be allowed.

I know they are not allowed in Taj Mahal, but could you please write where else I can encouter possible difficulties?

I'm planning to see Delhi, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodphur, Osiyan, Udaipur, Ranakpur, Kumbalgarh. Anywhere in these sights tripods are forbidden?

Tripods or lighting equipment are not allowed at any historic site managed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

http://www.asi.nic.in/asi_faq_photography.asp

(The FAQ mentions something about prior permissions, but I'm not sure how to get that).

At my age (67), I have used a "monopod" as a walking stick at entrances in various countries. I have had no problems so far.

If you use a sufficiently lightweight camera, what about the Gorillapod?
