Travel Videos on Indiamike
I was thinking about this for some time. I have noticed many members take Travel Video on their trip and provide a link in threads after they upload them in some other sites like Youtube.
Now, just like we upload our Tavel pictures in the Photogallery section, can a new section be started for uploading short travel videos....say maximum 2-3 minutes duration? I am asking members for their views and moderators to look into the matter seriously. This will definitely make our Indiamike more enjoyable and attractive. |

I know I'm no worse off than many 'broadband' (fraudband) customers in India --- but I find it next to impossible at the speeds available to me, so, most of the time I just skip people's video links
![]() There are some wonderful photos on IndiaMike, and I enjoy looking at each new day's selection, but, on the other hand, the See my Pics of The Trip posts can be a little bit like one of those, "We're nearly on the last batch. ..... .... ... ... at least, of the Kovalam Pictures...", visit to a friend! Ultimately it's up to Nadreg, both as a content decision and as technical decision, of course. I'd suspect that hosting video is just too much, even for his big new server. Probably best left to You Tube and so on, who (I guess) make money from their hosting.

We can have a pointer kind of thing which will re-direct the user to you tube or google video.

It's already a long-existing section of the photo galleries:
Audio and Video "You may add videos and mp3 soundbytes, however please keep the size small (2048 kb max)"

Heheh. Um, well, I don't think you even need to go to video galleries for it (however members are kindly requested to park them there); simply when uploading your pics (or any attachment) it will specify what file types are accepted. So you'll just need to save your files in those formats, whatever suits you for e.g. video. The process as such is the same as with pictures.
To bring it down to the required size, your media editor's help files should be able to guide you in this. Note that in my experience the upload screen will notify you if your file didn't meet the standards, but this isn't very clear and/or easily overlooked, leading to the majority of confused questions about it here I think. Basically if your uploaded file is "mysteriously missing," chances are it wasn't uploaded at all and you'll need to downsize it or look at its format, then simply try again. Those media editing programs typically have their own approaches & I'm no Wiz on the matter so check their Help files by all means, but feel free to leave further queries & others might jump in --> So when will you put that entire trip vid online somewhere, J.? Link to it at IM, by all means! (That is one that's just too big & can't be downsized no matter what you do.) |

OK, so I am (or was) a bit of a techie --- and I find handling video on the PC rather daunting. Not least because it takes so long to process!
