Hi all,
I've just posted some pictures of my Grandparents' colonial life in India. They are all dated from the 1930's. Today was the first time that I've seen many of them myself and I felt that I'd like to share them with you all. I must admit seeing a few of them was quite an emotional experience. Life in 1930's India I hope you all enjoy them! By the way, my name isn't really MyGrandad - I thought for a bit of fun you could guess who I really am!!! (Sorry Indiamike, hope that's okay). Cheers *** PS - Shouldn't be too difficult. PPS - Any comments appreciated. |

Wonderful photos!
The mystery pass ... could be in the Northwest Frontier, anywhere between Peshawar and Kabul. Or it could be up in Gilgit... I've just found a series of detective stories set in India in around 1922, by Barbara Cleverly. Do have a look at them! There are only three at the moment. |

great pics. mygrandad..
Let me use some mathematics to guess the age of the grandchild.... Granddad in 1930's looks like to be in 30's so by the average generation gap of say 30 years the grandchild should be in 40s...IMs Number-cruncher award for me if this is right ![]() my silly mathematics does not go any futher ![]() |

terrific photos! nothing to beat the charm of old B&W pics. reminds me of Lala Deen Dayal..... He is a real legend.
i got a first look at his work when Air India released a calendar in 80s with some of his cityscapes ( late 19th century. ) amazing clarity, and quite startling too - to find many of the major city centers ( like VT etc ) quite peaceful.. here is a link to a site dedicated to his photos. http://www.deendayal.com/ |
